Music Generation South Dublin announce recipients of awards under Instrument Purchase Scheme

Music Generation South Dublin is delighted to announce the awarding of €30,000 to music ensembles, bands, and schools in South Dublin County to enable the purchase of instruments. The Awards are made through Music Generation South Dublin Instrument Purchase Scheme which has been designed to support access for children and young people to music instrumental tuition in their local area.

Under the terms of the Scheme applicant groups were asked to demonstrate need for the instruments, how young people would use the instruments, how they would provide young people with support for learning on these instruments and how they would manage and maintain the instruments over time. 75% of the instruments’ cost is provided by Music Generation South Dublin, 25% matched by provided by the recipients. The maximum amount of the award is €3000.

Thirteen awards were made across the private, voluntary and education sectors to concert and marching bands, second level and primary schools. The selection panel for this Scheme was: Michael Fleming (Music Generation South Dublin), Roisin McLindon (Dublin & Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board), Caroline Wynn (Artscope) and Katherine Atkinson (Create).
